If you practice yoga regularly or have tried it in the past, you have probably found that it’s a great way to find focus and relaxation along with the physical rewards of strength and flexibility. Yoga is often used as a mechanism to relieve pain or restore body balance, but most classes aren’t specifically aimed at improving pelvic health. Recently, however, a study was conducted to compare a specialized pelvic floor recovery yoga program to a control yoga program. After six weeks in the specialized program, women experienced a 70 percent improvement in bladder function and reduction in leaking, compared to 13 percent in the control group, with the most notable improvement seen specifically in stress urinary incontinence.
